At the heart of Modern Huntsman is a hope to recalibrate how outdoor pursuits, especially hunting, are represented. Tyler shares how he and the team curate and intentionally bring together photographers, writers, Indigenous voices, conservationists, scientists, and adventurers to tell stories rooted in respect and responsibility.

Rather than focusing on trophies or sensationalism, Modern Huntsman aims to highlight ethics, ecology, and human connection, offering readers a holistic view of what it means to participate in the natural world.

Tyler talks about how true conservation is far more than policy or science; it is ultimately cultural. It involves listening to diverse perspectives, building bridges between communities, and recognizing that our actions today shape the landscape future generations will inherit.

This collaborative storytelling is where Modern Huntsman seeks to inspire a deeper sense of stewardship among those who hunt, fish, hike, and explore.

The Power of Honest Stories

Throughout the conversation, Tyler speaks candidly about the challenges and rewards of creating an independent publication. From navigating business realities to maintaining editorial integrity, and the use of AI. The Modern Huntsman had many naysayers proclaiming that what they wanted to do wouldn't work, yet here they are publishing beautiful work with intentional stories.

Both Bryan and Brad were inspired by His insights. This conversation was a great reminder of why stories matter and how they shape understanding, build empathy, and spark meaningful change.
