Nervous Waters

Many men go fishing all of their lives without know- ing that it is not fish they were after.

Henry David Thoreau

The first brown trout I have ever netted and it was a gorgeous fish!

The colors of green and brown, bits of orange glinting in the sun around a blast of black spots from head to tail made my eyes swim in wonder. Seeing this fish and all the others bursting with color like something that should be coming off of a reef in the ocean causes me to erupt into praise.

A mature wild rainbow trout from the Toccoa River in Blue Ridge, Ga.

So there I was casting to the very end, and just off the edge of some "nervous water" the indicator sank. Fish on!
